What are the best beaches in the Cíes Islands for anchoring?

Nestled on the northwest coast of Spain, the Cíes Islands emerge as a genuine natural treasure brimming with serenity that invites you to live a unique experience of disconnection.

These islands, protected within the Maritime-Terrestrial National Park of the Atlantic Islands of Galicia, unfold their unique beauty in the form of kilometers of white sandy beaches and crystal-clear waters.

In the Cíes archipelago, it is possible to anchor at Praia de Nosa Señora, Praia de San Martiño, and Praia de Rodas. Navigation is authorized by the administration within the designated polygonal space, and you need to obtain a permit for anchoring. We’ll tell you all about it!

Anchoring at Rodas Beach

The radiant jewel of the Cíes Islands, Rodas Beach, is a true paradise nestled in the heart of the Atlantic. Ideal for indulging in a peaceful coastal stroll, immersing yourself in a revitalizing dip, or embarking on a sailing day that reveals the wonderful diversity of the marine landscape at its best.

Disembarkation must be done at the Roda pier. To access this beach in the Cíes Islands by boat, an anchoring permit is required (due to its status as a Natural Park since 1980), a measure that ensures the conservation of its natural beauty.

Anchoring at Sant Martiño Beach

With its snow-white, exceptionally fine-grained sand, this beach unfolds as a true earthly paradise worth exploring if you’re anchoring in the Cíes Islands. Its generous expanse is caressed by a constant breeze, and serene, tranquil waters become an invitation to bathing and relaxation.

Exclusive access by private boats ensures its isolation from the hustle and bustle. On the island of San Martiño, where there is no pier, access can be done with a support boat. The current anchoring conditions at the anchorage of Sant Martiño Island allow for anchor use and mooring buoys. The seabed is sandy.

Anchoring at Nosa Señora Beach

Nosa Señora Beach, located in the southwest part of the Cíes Islands, is a genuine treasure waiting to be discovered and accessible by boat.

Though less renowned than its famous counterpart, Rodas Beach, Nosa Señora offers a serene beauty that beckons tranquility. With northeast winds, it is a very calm anchorage. This coastal oasis provides a more intimate experience, as its average daily occupancy is around 150 people. It is an ideal spot for diving and snorkeling enthusiasts, as its clear waters harbor a diverse marine life, from octopuses to bream or sea urchins.

Situated on the island of Faro or Medio, reaching Nosa Señora involves a small effort that is rewarded with a spectacular view of the island of San Martiño.
